A healthy twist on the Holiday Favorite coffee beverage, Peppermint Mocha. *Disclosure* – I received an El Gato Malo French Press in exchange for my honest opinion of their product. All thoughts and opinions of this product are 100% my own.
Confession #105 – I am a total French Press convert.
And I can’t even believe it.
For years, I was the biggest fan of that certain single cup, just-press-here coffee pot. Back when I was teaching, I even had one at home and one at work because I loved it so much.
But then I started to question the whole thing…just a little bit.
And I may have done some googling. And my fears of mold, bacteria, and a whole host of other icky things were confirmed.
So when the lovely people at El Gato Malo sent me their Stainless Steel French Press, I was more than ready to give it a try…despite always being kind of intimidated by the whole French Press Concept.
Unlike other French Press Pots, I loved that the El Gato Malo is not made of glass…with two little ones running around, stainless steel is definitely the way to go. This momma appreciates durability. I also liked that no sketchy plastic cups are needed…no waste and no harmful chemicals, either.
And, despite my fears, I was honestly shocked when my first attempt at the French Press resulted in the most amazingly delicious cup of coffee.
Did I just make that?
With the holidays coming up, I decided to have even more fun with my coffee this morning.
After brewing my favorite holiday blend in my El Gato Mato French Press, I treated myself to a healthy Peppermint Mocha.
I mean, it’s Friday, right?
I love blending coconut oil with my coffee…have you ever tried it? It’s a quick and easy way to make a healthy latte. And by adding the tiniest amount of peppermint extract and cocoa powder, I had myself a fancy holiday beverage at the bus stop this morning.
If you haven’t tried the coconut oil trick, you must. You need to see the magic for yourself. Definitely be careful when blending any hot liquids, of course. An immersion blender is awesome, but if you use a regular blender, be sure to vent it a bit before opening it all the way.
